Espoo, Finland — 14.11.2024 — Emberion, a leading innovator in quantum dot based shortwave infrared sensing technology, is introducing a major upgrade to its Emberion VS20 GigE product by introducing a very high duty cycle capability. This new integrate-while-read (IWR) mode will bring the duty cycle to over 99%.
This major firmware update maximizes duty cycle, enabling high quality imaging and sensing solutions for Emberion’s customers in various industries.
The new IWR mode will be available in all Emberion GigE cameras shipping January 2025 onwards and can be enabled on most of Emberion’s older GigE cameras through a firmware upgrade and recalibration at Emberion’s facilities. This will enable various applications for Emberion cameras that so far have not been within the camera’s capabilities. The IWR mode will be offered as an alternative mode with the current integrate-then-read (ITR) mode in all GigE cameras and can be interchanged in the camera user interface.
New Capabilities for Laser Detection and Optical Sorting
In laser detection, a duty cycle close to 100% is necessary to ensure every beam is detected – with Emberion’s IWR mode this is now possible. This is very relevant for customers needing to identify e.g. laser range finder or target designation beams targeted at the individuals or objects.
For optical sorting it is critical to identify every object – be it in free fall or on a fast moving conveyer belt – the new mode with > 99% duty cycle makes it possible and maximizes the exposure time during frame capture. The increased exposure time through a higher duty cycle will now also improve the sensitivity performance of the sensor.
To demonstrate the significantly improved performance we have created videos highlighting the IWR mode. Emberion will soon publish these demonstration videos on the Emberion YouTube channel. Watch out for that release!
If you are already an existing customer and have an Emberion GigE camera, we encourage you to talk to your sales contact about the availability of the camera firmware upgrade in January 2025.
