Process Engineer

Process Engineer

The Process Team at Emberion, Cambridge, UK, uses nanomaterials to fabricate state of the art photodetector imaging devices, which are integrated with custom read-out electronics and software by Emberion’ s electronics team in Helsinki, Finland. We require an experienced semiconductor process engineer to work within our Cambridge fab to produce, test and validate our products.

This role is varied, and a great opportunity to apply and broaden your skill base in a rapidly emerging industry and bring our ground-breaking new imager technology to market. The workload requirements in each area vary so it is critical that you are flexible, quick to learn new techniques and have exemplary attention to detail.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Implementing lean manufacturing methods to improve reliability and repeatability of existing pilot-scale fabrication processes to enable high-yield manufacturing of infrared sensor arrays and ramp-up in production volumes.
  • Develop and optimise routine manufacturing and testing processes to define process windows and operating parameters that ensure top-quality imaging devices.
  • Define Standard Operating Procedures and process controls that ensure yield and quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement of standard processes and procedures and implement lean six-sigma methodology.

About you

  • At least 10 years of industrial experience in thin film deposition and encapsulation using techniques including ALD, PVD, Thermal & E-Beam evaporation in semiconductor fab environment.
  • Experience using optical lithography, thermal metal evaporation, plasma etching, spin coating, inert-atmosphere glovebox operation will be a major advantage.
  • An understanding of ISO9001, lean / six-sigma manufacturing and wider regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and communication skills.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate practical experience of thin-film deposition and process development for optoelectronic device manufacturing in an industrial cleanroom environment.

Company Description

Emberion develops and produces revolutionary photo and thermal detectors and imagers for night vision, machine vision, spectroscopic and hyperspectral imaging applications. Our nanomaterials and electronics design know-how create a unique differentiation for our products.

Our primary products are cameras and image sensors for visible to shortwave infrared (VIS-SWIR) imaging. In addition, Emberion is developing other products, including MWIR, thermal and multispectral- band imaging technologies.
