Customer Service Engineer, Espoo

Emberion is a leading-edge deep technology company that is about to bring its first high-performance infrared camera products to the market. We are now looking for a Customer Service Engineer for to support primarily our industrial machine vision customer base.

About us

Emberion designs and produces high-performance infrared imagers and cameras based on nanomaterials and in-house designed CMOS integrated circuits. Our primary products are imaging arrays and camera cores for visible to shortwave infrared (VIS-SWIR) imaging. The first product Emberion will offer is a VIS-SWIR camera core that incorporates our novel VGA array and provides excellent performance for a competitive price. The key performance differentiator of the product is the wide spectral range from 400 to 2000 nm captured with a single imaging array.

Emberion also works on other products, including MWIR and wide spectral range sensor technologies. Our background is at Nokia Technologies and we spun-off as an independent SME in 2016. Today we employ some 27 people in two locations: Espoo, Finland and Cambridge, UK. We also collaborate closely with both major industrial companies and top-notch research organizations.

Emberion already has a wide customer base that we have been interacting with for several years to ensure our products are relevant to their applications and systems. We also have had an active presence at various trade fairs such as Vision, Photonics West and LaserWorldOfPhotonics.

About the role

You will be working with our customers to support the deployment of our camera products, both remotely and at customer sites. You work mostly in after sales, but may also participate in sales activities as technical expert. You will be solving their technical problems when they evaluate and integrate our cameras into their systems. You will also support our customers in ensuring, their customers get the best performance from our cameras. You will primarily focus on serving customers for industrial machine vision in Europe, but also work with other application areas and geographies as needed.

You are in critical role in providing firsthand customer feedback to whole Emberion’s organization to ensure products are relevant and developed further to better match customers’ needs. You will also need to understand customers’ application requirements e.g. on food sorting or recycling.

You will work independently with the customers but closely link with our R&D team, product management as well as sales team. You will also contribute to product documentation and customer on-line resource development as you have the first-hand-experience, what customers need. You may also periodically participate in the R&D work to understand how our product works in detail. In addition to technical work, you may also participate at international trade fairs as part of Emberion sales team.

About you

You have few years’ experience on working with industrial machine vision cameras, their HW systems (e.g. optics, light sources, sorting automation, system control) and SW tools (e.g. camera interfaces, APIs and SDKs, CV open source libraries). Working in technical B2B customer interface is familiar to you and you are experienced on product maintenance (e.g. sensor re-calibration). You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in relevant area, e.g. electrical engineering. You may also have experience on product documentation.

You have strong customer orientation and excellent communication & interaction skills. You work fluently in English, additional major European languages (e.g. German or French) are definitely an advantage. You are ready to travel internationally and have the flexibility to work across time

Location: The position will be located in our Espoo office but requires frequent traveling.
